As luck would have it, his would-be sweetheart is
engaged to Aaron Eckhart, a crafty local realtor who
hires Depp to author some hyperbolical real estate
articles to support a shady resort transaction. As
the real deal unfolds, Depp discovers the ugly truth
behind the gleaming resort facades of Puerto Rico
but his Editor refuses to publish an exposé that
might damage the image of the island and dampen
tourism. In the end, Depp returns to New York,
sobers up, gets the girl and rediscovers his voice
as a successful writer.
